The Role
As Production Manager, reporting to the Head of Manufacturing (South), you will be a key leader in the Manufacturing Management Team, ensuring optimal daily operations at our state-of-the-art production facility. You will work in a fast-paced environment where safety, quality and productivity are top priorities. You will have the opportunity to use your people and management skills to provide clear site direction to the main manufacturing operations. You will work at the forefront of the timber frame industry, including running a zero-labour wall line with 8 robot cells and a one-of-a-kind automated floor cassette line.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day factory planning across all shifts, ensuring adherence to production plans.
- Deliver production targets in:
- Output levels (efficiency & utilisation)
- Quality control
- Health & Safety compliance (including employee welfare)
- Customer satisfaction
- Budget control
- On Time in Full (OTIF) delivery
- Identify and mitigate risks, reporting proactively to the Head of Manufacturing (South).
- Foster a safety-focused culture, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Develop and implement induction and training programs for all new employees.
- Plan and monitor team performance, optimising production efficiency, resource utilisation, and waste management.
- Continuously seek improvements in factory efficiency and processes.
- Align employee resources with short and long-term production plans.
- Build effective working relationships across departments to maximise productivity.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental practices in manufacturing.
- Experience in production and resource planning.
- Timber frame manufacturing experience preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (IFS preferred).
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
- Understanding and experience of Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S and Continuous Improvement.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems in manufacturing.
Working Hours
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday), with flexibility for part-time hours, including shorter days or fewer working days per week.
